Title: Easy Kanji
Language: English
Author: Fujihiko Kaneda
Edit: Passports books
Publication Date: November 1995
Presentation:
As I say in my articles on books Kanji Starter volume 1 and Kanji Starter volume 2, learning Japanese Kanji is done in three steps: recognition, writing and reading.
Kanji Starter books focus solely on recognition. For its part, Easy Kanji focuses on writing and reading. It will teach you 500 Kanji, how to write and how to read them.
To do so, the book is divided into several chapters. On each chapter are offered dozens of Kanji. On each page, only 5 Kanji are available with spaces for writing, the write commands and their respective readings.
Each page is made by Kanji category such as Kanji trees, the Kanji of the rain…
Finally, this book provides pages of exercise to practice writing Kanji in context, as for example in a letter.
This book is, in my view, the ideal complement to the books Kanji Starter. It is primarily intended for beginners learning their first Kanji. It proposes 500 of the 2000 Kanji useful for everyday life in Japan.
My advice:
If you want to learn Japanese Kanji but you do not know where to start, Easy Kanji can be very helpful. This is a book easy to use (even for those who do not speak English), easy to carry and convenient in its methodology.
In view of the number of books proposed for learning the kanji, you will have to make a choice. Personally, after weeks of research, I stopped on Easy Kanji because it seemed best suited to my expectations. For now, I’m not disappointed and I learned a lot of Kanji with it (about a hundred to writing).
