Title: Sex and the Japanese: the sensual side of Japan
Author: Boyé Lafayette De Mente

Publication Date: December 2006
“A concise book going directly to the basics,” this is how I would describe the book: Sex and the Japanese – The sensual side of Japan. A pretty interesting book, very readable, with very short chapters and going straight to the point.
You will find the history of sex in Japan and the relationships between the Japanese with the latter. This book is intended to break the prejudices while explaining why the Japanese have such an open mind of a sensual perspective.
It allows us to analyze, briefly, to understand and so do not more to judge without knowing. For many people, worldwide, the Japanese are “perverse,” but after reading this book, we realize that it is not. Indeed, sexual relations in Japan are explained by the history and religion of this country.
This book is divided into chapters, all arranged in chronological order, in order to show the evolution of sex and its perception in Japan over the centuries.
There is also a whole chapter at the end of the book and several pages dedicated to the vocabulary of sex. It offers words, phrases in Japanese to express themselves easily in all situations relating to sensuality.
Once you have read this book you will understand why the Japanese celebrates Kanamara Matsuri: Festival of the penis, or practice bondage or Kinbaku and all sorts of other things.
If you are interested in Japan, its culture, its history, and you have the curiosity about the Japanese and their relationship to sex, this book is for you.
This is an excellent book, very brief and easy to read, which I find fairly complete in terms of bases. It helps break the stereotypes about Japanese and get a better idea of their relationship to sex.
I would almost say that this is a book to read before going to Japan, particularly for those who believe that Japanese girls are easy or that the Japanese are perverts.
Personally, this book helped me understand many things and analyze these events with much more recoil.
